SynoptesAR is meant to be used during the Tokyo Biennale art festival, which takes place from July 10th 2021 to September 5th 2021 around central Tokyo. The app is commissioned by Daisuke Ida, who is also the creator of the digital art used in this application. A link to his website can also be found at the bottom of this page.
SynoptesAR is, as the name implies, an AR app and requires an ARKit supported phone with camera permission. The app is specifically made to be used on the first floor of Shin Tokyo Building, located inside central Tokyo. When used at this location, the app will scan the inside of building and place digital content (including a part of photogrammetry data of the Shin Tokyo Building) accordingly. However, it is also possible to use the application at a different location as the content can also be placed manually. Once the content is placed in space, the camera can be used to look around and enjoy the pieces of digital art created by Daisuke Ida.
